FL Studio Demo- Making a Pattern into an Actual song?

I downloaded the demo of FL Studio 8. I can easily make a good sounding looping pattern, but I have no idea how to make it into an actual media file (where I can listen to it on WMP or Itunes). I tried Exporting it, but the MIDI file is simply blank. Anybody know what I'm talking about and can help me?
