Is it better driving through Rocky Mountains on I-90 or I-70?

We are moving from Minneapolis to Seattle on the first week of January. Any advice on weather to take I90 or I70? The northern route will save time, but are not sure if the weather will affect our travel. My daughter has a bad sinus and ear infection and am wondering if the elevation will be unbearable for her. Please share your experiences. Thanks.
