Should i let my Fiance get a cat?

My Fiance keeps pestering me to get a cat. He has had them since he was a baby, but i have never had a cat and aren't really that keen. People keep telling me that they're great as you can leave them for long periods at a time, as long as you have their food on a timer and they have water, but i'm still not convinced, as i have seen quite a few dead cats on the road in my lifetime, and that really puts me off, and i don't think it's fair to keep a cat constantly indoors. I also know of a lot of people who have cats that bring home little dead presents and i couldn't cope with that. I had told my Fiance that if we did get one, he would have to do all the cleaning up after it, which he agreed to, but he works late all the time, so i know i'd get stuck with it. I'm just not all that comfortable sharing my home with a cat. Do you think my opinion will change or should i stick to my guns?
