What is up with him?!?!?

ok so i went sledding with my friends today and one of my best guy friends came along. ok and he was talking to me a lot. and he seemed like really nervous when he was talking to me. like he had to get everything out really fast and wait for my response. but like he sits next to me when ever he can and talks to me a lot, but the only reason why i think he did this today is because this other girl is out of town. he sits by her like every day at lunch, but will also come over to talk to me. but i just dont know with him;; does anybody have any advice that could help me out?
