IPod NANO!?!?!?

tell me EVERYTHING in order of wat to do w/ the ipod once u hav bought it. i got it yesterday and i turned it on then a language screen came up so i choose english then i turned it off. then i plugged the USB cable into the ipod then to my computer. but the istant that is supposed to tell us wat to do next nvr came up!!!
